Black Heritage Show

February celebrates Black History Month, an annual celebration of the achievements of African Americans and a time to recognize the central role of blacks in the history of the United States. On Friday, February 23, at the High School, Black History Month was celebrated. The students and professors performed a show in which dances, music and theater were included The students were delighted to see this small but great presentation as they managed to convey their purpose to the audience. Since 1976, every American president has designated February as African American History Month and has endorsed a specific theme. The Black History Month 2018 theme, "Afro-American in Times of War," marks the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I and pays tribute to the roles that African Americans have played in the war, from the American Revolution to the present. Students of Keys Gate got to watch a part of the show during one of their periods and the whole show took place on February 23rd after school. The Black Heritage show highlighted the importance and appreciation of black culture during February.
