Murder Mystery


A Murder Mystery event was held in the cafeteria on March 5th, 2016 from 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. by the Game Club. The event, titled, “Homicidal Homecoming,” had over 20 characters, each dressed as if going to a proper school dance. Mr. Vega, Ms. Pizarro, and Ms. Shaw were all participating as characters in the Homicidal Homecoming as well as Game Club members led by their leader, Livan Miranda, and other helpers from Model UN. “The purpose was to provide guests a chance to solve a fictional school murder. The event was immersive and entertaining all the while it funded the Game Club,” Mr. Vega said.

Students of all grades attended alongside family and friends. The strobe lights and music equipment, supplied by the school’s AV Team, had people dancing amidst a mysterious murder case. The cafeteria was decorated with black and white balloons hanging from the walls and ceiling. The following is the plot of the events written in news story format:

“Alice Wells was killed by Rain Thoko on March 5th, 2016 at Keys Gate Charter High School during the Homecoming Dance. Thoko, alleged high school diva, had grudges against Wells, another high schooler, because she got in-between the relationship of Thoko and Kennedy Hewie, the quarterback for the high school football team. Officials were searching the building at the time of the murder to aid the investigation for clues as to who killed Wells. The exits were blocked as to keep the convict within range”.

After having found two pieces of evidence: a phone that belongs to Wendy Queens, close friend of Wells, and a piece of duct tape used to cover up the body, police asked the homecoming attendees to submit who they thought the prime suspect was. Rain Thoko was successfully caught and has yet to be tried.
